SPRINGFIELD, NJ --  The Hasbrouck Heights girls volleyball team, seeded 22nd in the NJSIAA Group I volleyball tournament, shocked 11th seeded Jonathan Dayton High School (Springfield) 2-0 to capture their first round match on Tuesday afternoon in Springfield. 

The win is the first-ever Hasbrouck Heights Girls Volleyball in the NJSIAA State Championships. 

The Aviators came out strong, defeating the Bulldogs 25-21 in the opening game.  The Aviators kept the momentum going into the second game, a commanding 25-13 victory for the win.

"The team stepped up big time to beat a good Dayton team," stated head coach Jackie Ferranti.  "The team was led today by great backrow play by Valeria and Romina Dianderas." 

The Aviators will face 6th seeded Verona, who swept  Becton 2-0 to advance the round of 16, on Thursday in Verona.
