WOOD-RIDGE, NJ - Present meets the past on Thursday, August 1, when the Wood-Ridge High School Boys soccer team holds its annual game against the Wood-Ridge alumni. This is the third consecutive year the two have met, with the alumni seeking their first win. Game time is 4 pm at Donna Ricker Field.
For the first time, a trophy, that the winning team will keep, will be presented according to Wood-Ridge head coach Alberica DePierro.
The game has grown each year, with 21 alumni already signed up for the game, including: Adrian Lopez (class of 2015), Faisal Haddad (class of 2016), Timothy Latif (class of 2017), Daniel Cygan (class of 2018), Brian Argueta (class of 2018).
“I look forward to this game every season now,” said DePierro. “It is a special moment as present meets past and it is a chance to build the bond for this program. It’s a wonderful tradition that I started here and hope it carries on well after I am no longer here.
“You can only know who you are if you know who you have been,” DePierro stated.
