HASBROUCK HEIGHTS/WOOD-RIDGE, NJ - Several youth sports organizations have canceled or postponed events for the upcoming spring sports season.

Hasbrouck Heights Little League, under guidance from Little League International has canceled several key events. The annual Pancake Breakfast scheduled for March 29 is officially canceled.  The group will contact the sponsors and donors over the next week or so.  They will also discuss when, or if, to reschedule. Opening Day Parade and Ceremony is canceled for April 4, as well as all games that day.  They will discuss also when, or if, it can be rescheduled. All practices and/or team activities will be canceled until at least April 6.

The Hasbrouck Heights Soccer Association has canceled and postponed events for both parents and players. Due to the ongoing situation and uncertainty concerning COVID-19, the HHSA has suspended all soccer activities until March 27. All team activities including practices, tournaments, leagues, scrimmages, etc are canceled. The Northern Counties Soccer has delayed the start of the season until April 19. The March 16 General Meeting is canceled.

The HHSA will monitor the situation closely. As they get closer to March 27, will then make a decision to reinstate activities or postpone for a longer period of time.

Wood-Ridge Little League and Girls Softball is shutdown until Monday, April 6, said WRLL president Phil Romero, saying they're "still planning on opening April 11, if all goes well."

Jackie Goldklang, Director of Recreation and Senior Services in Wood-Ridge said an email was sent "this morning (Friday) to all of our league presidents to follow the schools and suspend youth sports and activities through the end of March," which includes Wood-Ridge recreation track and field, Little League and girls softball.

Lodi Little League is following guidelines from Little League International and postponing any activities until Monday, April 6 and then reassess the situation, said Tom Rachelski, the League's Communications Officer.

"As of now we are not officially canceling the season because we want to make sure the kids can still potentially have a great literally experience but don't want to expose them to unnecessary dangers," he said.

Teams and programs under the Hasbrouck Heights Recreation Department have been postponed or canceled. The second registration date, Monday, March 16, for spring rec track has been canceled. The start of the season has been suspended until further notice. When the start of the season begins, any parents who wants to register their child(ren), can bring the registration form and payment to practice. 

The Adult coed volleyball and adult basketball programs have been suspended until further notice. And recreation softball practices are suspended until further notice.
