HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ  - The boys of fall has a different meaning for these youth athletes. Members of  the Hasbrouck Heights 9U fall baseball team completed their undefeated season and captured the division championship.

According to manager Neil Peterson, the team played in the Fall NEBAS (Northeast Bergen All Stars) League, 9U East Division.  They went 8-0 over the regular season, playing against teams from Hillsdale, Cresskill, Palisades, Emerson, Tenafly, Fort Lee, Dumont, and Maywood.

"Most of the team has played together since March, through Spring Travel, Summer All Stars, and now with Fall Travel; in total close to 35 games," said Peterson. "We were able to add a couple of players in the summer that proved to be key additions."

The top four teams qualified for a single elimination playoffs.  Hasbrouck Heights was the one seed, followed by Maywood,  Fort Lee, and Cresskill. The playoffs matched the one versus four seed, and two versus three seed.

Hasbrouck Heights beat Cresskill, 11-4, in the semifinal playoffs, and went on to face the two-seed Maywood in the Championship game, which they won 11-8.

"Every player contributed throughout the season, and the boys have learned a lot about the game, about each other, and about themselves," said Peterson. "They are all such good teammates, picking each other up and never getting down.  They lost in the championship game in the spring and in a summer all star tournament, so this was a big breakthrough for them."

"I can't think of a team more deserving of a championship than this one," Peterson continued. "The progress they made over the last seven months has been remarkable and the coaches and parents are very proud of them."
