HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ - The weekly series featuring the Hasbrouck Heights Soccer Association's travel teams returns this week. There are 13 teams, for both boys and girls. All information is provided by the HHSA.
The U11 Boys, who were champions in the Spring, had the honor to play the very first soccer game on the small field at Depkin Field on Saturday, September 7. It was "a much anticipated event that was many years in the making," according to Joe Castellano, vice president of the HHSA. With the cooperation of the Hasbrouck Heights Board of Education the field was able to have lines painted for small-sided games (U9 to U12) for the fall 2019 season. A short-sided field has smaller dimension for the younger players. Those 13 and over play on a full-sized field.
In the spring, there was a trial run of having lines painted at Hitchcock field for short-sided games and were deemed "a great success" by league officials. Now with both Hitchcock and Depkin available for small-sided games, it opens up much more opportunities for games at the rec and travel level to be played on turf, noted Castellano.
The U11 Boys look to build on their success this season.
The roster for this team is:
Ethan James Espinas
Steve Oettinger, Sam Papasavas, Stephen Capozzoli
