HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ - A little bit a drizzle (or a faulty portable microphone) could not dampen spirits Saturday night when Hasbrouck Heights Junior Football League honored 42 eighth graders before their final regular season home game at Depken Field. As each of the 28 cheerleaders and 14 football players were announced, the public address announcers shared with the crowd the number of the years in the program, which ranged from nine years to one year, and their favorite memory during that time.
Memories ranged from cheering and learning the halftime dance, the bus rides to away games, winning the Super Bowl, post-game parties, and making friends.
The player/cheerleader met their parents on the field, received a wrist corsage (for girls) or football balloon (for boys) and posed for a family photo. At the end of the ceremony, all the cheerleaders and football players gathered at for a group photo.
