HAWTHORNE, NJ - Hawthorne Police and Ambulance responded to a car crash in front of 136 Lafayette Avenue, between Washington and Elberon, at approximately 5:00 p.m. Monday.  A sedan smashed into a utility pole which showed a split about twelve feet up, but there was no reported loss of power. 

The driver was said to be a male in his twenties who sustained a non-life threatening injury to the neck.  The driver allegedly refused transportation to the hospital.  PSE&G was called in to address the damage to the pole.
