HAWTHORNE, NJ - The Hawthorne Environmental Commission unrolled a "What I Love About Hawthorne" online poster contest today, according to the commission. The purpose of the contest is "to create an awareness and appreciation of all Hawthorne has to offer." Hawthorne residents will then be able to “Like” submitted posters on the Hawthorne Environmental Commission/Green Team Facebook Page. Beginning on Monday, July 13, the contest will run to August 7. The poster with the most “likes” will be the winner.
Posters have to be emailed as a file to the Environmental Commission by sending to HawthorneEC@gmail.com before August 7. "All posters will be posted on our Facebook and voting needs to be completed by Friday, August 14th, 2020 by 5:00 pm," the commission said in a statement.
"This is for everyone," Rayna Laiosa, Environmental Commission Chairwoman, told TAPinto Hawthorne, "it's not just for kids."
The Environmental Commission laid out the rules for contestants.
- Posters must be made with the “What I Love About Hawthorne” theme
- Posters may be 8 ½ x 11 inches or larger
- If working with a friend, no more than two people can contribute a collaborative poster
The Commission also noted that drawings, paintings, or photographs are acceptable for posters.
"The Commission is hopeful that making the posters will be a learning experience for all," Laiosa said. "By being creative and sharing your feelings about your town, you will be inspiration to others to appreciate all that Hawthorne has to offer."
