FAIR LAWN, NJ - A woman was discovered stabbed in a home at 20-06 Halstead Terrace on July 8 after police responded to a 9-1-1 hang up, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.
Fair Lawn Police responded to the residence at 3 p.m. Sunday after receiving the 9-1-1 hang up call. Upon entering the house, police discovered a female resident had been stabbed. She was transported to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center where she was subsequently pronounced dead. A family member, who also resides at the house, has been taken into custody.
The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit and the Fair Lawn Police Department are cooperating in an ongoing investigation of the homicide, the second in Fair Lawn in as many weeks.
The other homicide occurred on June 26 inside the Fair Lawn home of Janoris Jenkins, a NY Giant defensive back. Roosevelt Rene, 25, was found dead in the home at 14 Van Saun Place after an apparent scuffle with Jenkins' brother, William H. Jenkins, 34, who has been charged with aggravated manslaughter in the matter, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.
The prosecutor's office said more information will be released as it becomes available.
