On Tuesday, February 2nd at 1:30 p.m. Joel Farkas, a docent at Washington’s Headquarters in Morristown, will present a lecture via Zoom on George Washington’s service during the French and Indian War, his involvement in New Jersey battles during the Revolutionary War, and living through the harsh winters in Morristown.  In addition, a virtual tour of the Ford Mansion (Washington’s Headquarters at Morristown) will highlight historical artifacts connected to our first President.  Participants may come to the library to view the lecture on our large screen TV or may view the lecture at home on a device of their choice.  Pre-registration is required.   A Tuesday Talks for Seniors, this program is sponsored by the Friends of the Library. 

The Books ‘n’ Bites book club will meet on Tuesday, February 9th at 1:30 p.m.  June Westlin will moderate a discussion focusing on The Dearly Beloved by Cara Wall.  Participants may come to the library to participate in-person or may join in the discussion via Zoom.    Pre-registration is required.

Miss Ro and the Crafty Ladies will make snowman luminaries on Tuesday, February 16th at 1:30 p.m. All supplies will be provided.  Participants may come to the library to take part in-person or may pick up the supplies in advance of the workshop and participate via Zoom.  Pre-registration is required.

Join Miss Susan for a guided Winter Walk through Thielke Arboretum on Tuesday, February 23rd (re-scheduled from January 26th) at 1:30 p.m.   Arboretum docents will lead us through the grounds where we will witness the progression of the seasons and the life cycles of plants and animals.  We will explore the different ecosystems that make up the Arboretum, and learn about the native habitat.  Thielke Arboretum is located at 460 Doremus Ave., Glen Rock.  We’ll meet and enter the grounds from the Glen Rock Municipal Pool Parking Lot adjacent to the Arboretum.  Please wear sturdy weatherproof shoes or boots and dress for the weather!  This Walk ‘n’ Talk event is in-person only!

FROM THE CHILDREN’S DEPARTMENT…..Miss Patti continues to create additional Storytime-to-Go bags for the preschool set.  Each bag includes a picture book, a related flannel board story or activity, a finger play, a list of links to songs, and supplies for a make-at-home craft project.  Only the book will need to be returned.  All  other materials in the bag become yours!  

Just a reminder!  Take-and-Make Craft of the Month kits are available for children in grades K-3.  Stop in the Children’s Room anytime we are open to pick up a kit for each of your children.
