GLEN ROCK, NJ - Three individuals in the borough were victims of fraudulent unemployment claims, police said, two of which work for the borough.
On Oct. 5, a resident of Prospect Street reported an unknown party had filed for unemployment benefits in her name on September 20, police said. Her place of employment notified her a claim had been filed in her name.
And on Oct. 8, the Glen Rock Borough Tax Office reported two borough employees appeared to be the victim of fraudulent activity involving unemployment benefits, police said. An unknown party had filed for unemployment benefits in the name of two borough employees on September 20 and September 27. Both employees are currently employed and learned of the identity theft from the tax office. Both employees confirmed they had not made the unemployment claim.
The NJ Department of Labor Fraud Division was notified of the fraudulent claims and the Detective Bureau is investigating.
