HAWTHORNE, NJ - On Saturday morning between 9:00 a.m. and noon, the Hawthorne Green Team held their Styrofoam drive in the parking lot of the Municipal Building.

Members of the Green Team were joined by borough employees to take Styrofoam given over by local residents.  As the pandemic is still ongoing, residents and workers wore masks.  The residents were asked to stay in their cars while the Styrofoam was collected.  Styrofoam used to contain food, cups, and packing peanuts were not accepted.

The volunteers sorted the clean packing-grade Styrofoam by size and put into a truck.  Borough employee Brian Bertollo said that the collected Styrofoam would be recycled for use as insulation in new home construction.
