HAWTHORNE, NJ – No less than nine car burglaries and thefts were reported in the borough between Tuesday, May 22, and Monday, May 28, according to the Hawthorne Police Department. 

Previously, on the night of Wednesday, May 9, into Thursday, May 10, residents reported a bicycle theft and two cars burglarized with various items stolen from within on Post Avenue, Taylor Avenue, and Hawthorne Avenue.

The police department warned residents to be vigilant and take steps to secure their property.  “In each case, the vehicles were left unlocked," said Captain Jeffrey Vanderhook.  "Please remove valuables and lock your vehicles.”  All of the burglaries and thefts occurred during the night.
