HAWTHORNE, NJ - According to Hawthorne's Borough Administrator Eric Maurer, a significant increase in revenues have been coming to the borough from renting antenna space on the Longview Tank. And that amount may increase still if the last remaining available area is leased to another, as yet unnamed, entity.
"Assuming that further investigation on their part determines that the site meets their needs," Maurer said, "I plan to seek the council’s approval in the coming months for a lease. After reserving a small amount of space for our own potential future needs, this would fully subscribe the available space."
Maurer said that in a dozen years, annual revenues did not exceed $30,000. "You’ll be pleased to know that the antenna leases on the tank now provide us in excess of $600,000 annually, a figure that would climb further with one more tenant. I thought it was important to report that to the public so that they know that we’re trying to do wise things on their behalf rather than simply raise taxes."
