On August 1, 2018 at approximately 12:45 a.m., Officer Craig Bonagura was patrolling the area of Hopper Street when he observed a Silver Audi reversing in a careless manner, nearly striking a parked vehicle. Off. Bonagura initiated a motor vehicle stop and noticed the driver, Shanea Dunbar of Irvington, was making furtive movements toward the center console as if she was attempting to conceal something. Through further investigation, Off. Bonagura observed a clear bag which contained numerous bundles of glassine envelopes containing suspected “Heroin”. A total of three hundred (300) glassine envelopes stamped “ROLEX” were recovered.
Ms. Dunbar was placed under arrest and charged with Poss. of C.D.S., Poss. of C.D.S. with the Intent to Distribute, Poss. of C.D.S. within 1000 feet of a School and issued several motor vehicle summonses. Ms. Dunbar was also found to have active warrants out of East Orange for $550.00 and Elmwood Park for $1000.00. Ms. Dunbar was subsequently transported to the Passaic County Jail pending a Central Judicial Process (CJP) appearance.
“I want to commend Officer Bonagura for this great arrest," said Mayor Mohamed T. Khairullah. "We will keep proving time and time again that if you want to sell or travel through our community with narcotics, you will be arrested and prosecuted.”
