HAWTHORNE, NJ - A Lyft driver reported an assault at 4:15 a.m. August 10, after he told a couple engaged in sexual activity in his car to leave, according to the Hawthorne Police Department.

After picking up Phillip Jackson, 33, of Prospect Park, and Ashley Williams, 20, of Elmwood Park, the driver said that he had heard a noise coming from the rear and found Williams performing a sexual act on Jackson.  He stopped the Honda Accord and told the passengers to leave.  As Williams left the car, she allegedly punched the driver in the face and Jackson threw an object which scratched the car.

The driver went to the police and reported the incident and the suspects were identified.  Jackson and Williams were charged with simple assault and criminal mischief.
