HAWTHORNE, NJ - In the borough, residents are being advised to lock their car doors due to a rise in reported vehicular break-ins.

"As if everyone doesn't have enough to worry about," the Hawthorne Police Department said through social media, "we have received reports of car break ins. Please lock your cars, take all valuables out of your vehicles and report any suspicious parties."

Neighboring Prospect Park Police warned against scams.  "Please be aware of possible door to door residential scams. If anyone attempts to make contact with you at your residence posing as an official from the CDC to provide testing for COVID-19 or anyone else offering de-contamination services, contact the Police immediately. There are no officials conducting any such measures. As always, don't fall victim to any telephone scams as well."
