HAWTHORNE, NJ - Tuesday evening's National Night Out in Hawthorne came to an end when a lightning storm whipped through, but the borough nevertheless had everything in place for an enjoyable night of entertainment and community spirit. The 3rd Annual National Night Out, hosted by the Hawthorne Police Department, was held in the area of the Memorial Pool and Boro Bandshell along Wagaraw Road against May Street.
A children's bouncy castle, food truck vendors, community groups, and emergency services personnel were on hand for interacting with and educating residents about their roles within Hawthorne. The country band "Radio Nash" was slated to perform in the bandshell until nature intervened at approximately 6:30 p.m.
Above are scenes before the storm, contributed by Michael Jannicelli and Joni Huston with the gratitude of TAPinto Hawthorne.
