HAWTHORNE, NJ - Due to the heavy winds which ravaged the region on Friday, a number of branches and utility lines were brought down. Yesterday, a section of Lafayette Avenue north of Cedar Avenue was closed off for repair work. While this has since been completed and the length of Lafayette remains clear, a section of South Ave immediately west of Lafayette Avenue remains closed as of Monday afternoon with downed lines visible.
Drivers should plan an alternate route if traveling this area and wait for repairs to be completed. Under no circumstances should anyone touch a downed line, but rather advise the police department or PSE&G.
