HAWTHORNE, NJ - The weekend of September 14 and 15 will see the return of Passaic County's "Art in the Park" festival in Goffle Brook Park.

The free event, presented by the Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders and organized by the Passaic County Department of Cultural and Historic Affairs, will be open on both days between 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. and "include a catalog of art presentations available forviewing and purchasing, arts and crafts activities for all ages, artisanal food and craft vendors, performances, poetry recitations, and a full lineup of live music and entertainment".

As in the past, the Art in the Park Festival will have a sectioned-off biergarten for those 21 and older, as the first craft brewery in Passaic County, Ghost Hawk Brewing Company, partnered with the program.  Other partners include the Paterson Arts Reforming Communities and the Montclair Art Museum.

“We look forward to organizing this art festival every year, and it is especially exciting this year since we have just re-opened the John W. Rea House as the Passaic County Arts Center,” Freeholder Director John Bartlett said. “The festival is a wonderful opportunity for artists to share their talents with the community, and for everyone to unwind in the scenic park, indulge in local food and drink options, and appreciate various forms of art.”

While "Art in the Park" was previously held near Diamond Bridge Avenue, this time it is being held outside the Passaic County Arts Center at the John W. Rea House, which was opened this year after restoration and renovation.  Outside the arts center are large sculptures and "The Fate of Gypsy" is currently being exhibited within, open to the public.
