HAWTHORNE, NJ - The Boro Bandshell does not want anyone to risk a heart attack-ack-ack-ack-ack-ack and decided to reschedule the Billy Joel tribute concert, "Captain Jack", originally scheduled for Sunday, July 21. The very real risk of heat exhaustion and heat stroke is nothing to take lightly, and with the weekend bringing record-temperatures and scorching real-feel indexes, the decision was made out of genuine concern for residents' well-being. The heat had caused other cancelations, including Passaic County's decision not to host its Washington's Encampment at the Dey Mansion.
"Captain Jack" has been rescheduled to Thursday, July 25, at 7:00 p.m., according to Michael Pasquale, Esq.
Over the weekend, the Borough of Hawthorne had sent out advisories to residents that they should limit time outdoors if possible and to check in on elderly family and neighbors, as well as pets.
The Bill Joel tribute is the second concert that the Boro Bandshell had to reschedule this summer, the first being The Journey Experience which was rained out on July 11.
The next scheduled Bandshell program is "National Night Out" on August 6, starting at 5:30 p.m.
