HAWTHORNE, NJ - To help brighten spirits for those who pass by, resident Katie Sokoler has used her artistic skills to make bright sidewalk art, one of the sights that have popped up around town.  Chalk sidewalk pictures, slogans, and designs--creations of both children and adults--have become welcome sights in Hawthorne since the coronavirus pandemic has forced people to stay at home.

Additionally, as governmental authorities strongly recommend the wearing of masks in public and in the recently re-opened parks, she built a life-sized image of herself, wearing a mask.  Sokoler keeps it on her porch as a reminder for those who see it to wear one as well.
