HAWTHORNE, NJ - Residents may have noticed trucks and trailers near the Hawthorne Memorial Pool grounds and Grand Avenue. Netflix has apparently come to town, with locals being notified by a flyer.
The scenes being shot are part of a film called "Beauty" which follows a woman living with her family in 1980s New Jersey on the verge of becoming known worldwide as a singer.
Filming will be on-going from October 28 through November 15, according to the document, with the exception of weekends, and generally between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. which may potentially cause some traffic concerns. The Netflix Locations Department has advised residents who may wish to speak with them to see one of their staff on site or contact them at 973-240-9770 or 203-247-4107.
The commencement of filming in Hawthorne comes just three days after New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy said on 970 AM "The Answer" with Steve Adubato that, "The film and TV business in New Jersey is booming. And that’s because of the tax credit, our talent, location, and it’s never been stronger."
