Our numbers still look great, although we have added one additional active case bringing our active number to 2. Let’s keep up the good work with masks and social distancing as we try to bring active cases to 0.

The Pool opened today, and I attended the ribbon cutting in Goffle Brook for the playground.

I know many of our restaurants were disappointed with the Governor putting a pause on inside dining. I have eaten outside at many of our restaurants and have had great meals. They still need our help with meals both outside and take out. Macaluso’s is planning outside dining next week, so that will give you yet another opportunity to dine out. Don’t forget to fill out your census form. I’m hoping for 100% participation.

We had hoped that the Municipal Building would open next week, but we need more time to put on the finishing touches to make it safe for both you and our employees. I know it’s been a little inconvenient, but I think everyone is being served. Hopefully next week I’ll be able to announce the building opening date

We are planning to continue virtual meetings through the summer. That includes the Planning Board and Zoning Board.

Yesterday the County passed out 500 boxes of food in Hawthorne. We appreciate the help from the County.

If you need food, please remember that the Borough has a non-perishable food pantry. Please call our Board of Health for assistance at 973-427-4011. Many thanks to those people who have donated food to the Borough’s food pantry as well as supplies and food for our first responders.

We are here at the Municipal Building; if you have any questions or concerns, please call us at 973-427-5555 or 973-427-1168.

Sincerely,
Mayor Goldberg
