HAWTHORNE, NJ - Following the Tuesday, May 5, meeting, the Hawthorne Board of Education announced that it would re-open the Hawthorne High School track, according to a letter from Superintendent Richard Spirito.

"The track will reopen on Friday, May 8, 2020, at 7:00 a.m.," the letter read.  The track is open to Hawthorne residents.

However, the letter listed a few caveats.

"The track will be monitored throughout the week by one of our district security personnel to ensure that those who choose to use the track are following social distancing protocols.  No group workouts or large group meetings of any kind will be permitted.  The use of the HHS athletic fields and hockey rink are strictly prohibited."

Spirito said that the track would remain open "as long as residents adhere to the guidelines" listed.
