HAWTHORNE, NJ - Dr. Zachary Berman of Embrace Family Orthodontics on Lafayette Avenue had been practicing at his present location for a year before the coronavirus pandemic required him to shut down. "It was almost a year to the day," Dr. Berman said. "It's pretty crazy." But, as the situation seems to be improving, he said he will be reopening this week.
With three kids at home, Dr. Berman said he has been keeping busy with home-schooling, biking, and spending family time together. But he wanted to do something for the graduating class of 2020. Dr. Berman wants to compile a video for the graduating students from the businesses in Hawthorne to send their best wishes and congratulations.
"I'm looking at all these signs around town, and notices about the graduates not having a regular end-of-school-year. They aren't able to have their ceremonies. I follow the Hawthorne schools on instagram and I felt bad for these kids. I wanted to do something for them. I'm new to the neighborhood and I felt it was a good opportunity to get involved."
Dr. Berman described his idea as, "A short video offering graduates words of encouragement during this tough time, to show them that people in town are thinking of them, people who are also having a tough time, that we're all in this together."
Dr. Berman said he spoke with Hawthorne Superintendent of Schools Richard Spirito about the idea and got his support to go ahead. "All they need to do is send a short video clip to me, approximately 20-30 seconds, with positive words, encouragement, your congratulations, or any combination." The videos should be sent in by Friday, May 22, e-mailed to Contact@embracefamilyortho.com. "Please make sure to state your name and business name so I can include it in the video."
