HAWTHORNE, NJ - TAPinto Hawthorne has learned of the passing of 3rd Ward Councilman Garret Sinning.  Mr. Sinning, who had just won re-election, was hospitalized on Thursday and passed Wednesday.

Mr. Sinning's public service included over twenty years on the Borough Council, as well as on the Hawthorne Board of Education, and dedicated decades to the Little League and basketball teams in town.  He served on the library board and several council committees.  Gary and his wife Bernice were both members of the Republican County Committee and involved in the community.

"He had quite a career in Hawthorne," Mayor Goldberg said.  "Gary was a great guy and will be missed."

1st Ward Councilman Wojtecki posted on Facebook that "I spent 16 years sitting next to Gary at Council we shared alot of candy (he loved hard candy) and fishing stories - may he rest in eternal peace."
