HAWTHORNE, NJ - Residents and businesses who normally have their garbage and recycling collected on Thursday mornings will have it picked up on Friday, according to the Borough of Hawthorne.  Independence Day, a federally recognized holiday, necessitated the shift to the following day.

Additionally, the first week of the month is also Bulky Waste and residents are allowed to put up to six large items on the curb, such as furniture or mattresses, but not appliances, electronics, or metal items, which are recyclable.  Hawthorne residents can make an appointment with the borough to have such items taken by calling 973-427-5330.
