HAWTHORNE, NJ - After one of the mildest of winters, it seems as though spring is just around the corner. The local wildlife appears to be getting ready for the new season and Holly Cowen, member of the Hawthorne Environmental Commission's Green Team, has shared some of her pictures of the local area fauna shaking off what little winter there has been.
"Signs of Spring," Cowen said, "The Red Wing blackbirds have arrived. The males come first and stake out their territory. Listen for their 'conk-la-ree' call."
Cowen spotted a bald eagle flying over Arnold's Pond and captured images of local rabbits, singing sparrows, nesting squirrels, and more.
