UPDATE: The Borough of Hawthorne has postponed the event until further notice. 3/12/2020
HAWTHORNE, NJ - The Hawthorne Municipal Alliance will be holding a public presentation in the auditorium of Hawthorne High School on "the dangers of vaping" Tuesday, March 24, at 6:30 p.m. according to the borough of Hawthorne. The presentation will be given by Dr. Phillip Devadan, Medical Director Atlantic Health System - Chilton Medical Center.
Dr. Devadan will "discuss the effects of nicotine and other ingredients found in electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS)" on the body's respiratory, cardiovascular, and central nervous systems.
The borough also said that refreshments and giveaways would be provided.
The matter of vaping, particularly with respect to youth use thereof, has prompted legislation on the state level in response to the perceived dangers. Effective April 20, New Jersey will completely ban the sale of flavored vaping products. Governor Murphy also signed legislation which would prohibit the use of coupons and rebates for vaping goods.
