HAWTHORNE, NJ - Thursday afternoon, the Louis Bay 2nd Library reported an odor of gas. The Hawthorne Police Department, Fire and Rescue responded to the call and the library was evacuated. PSE&G was called in to check as well.
With the library safely cleared, the fire department conducted an inspection using gas instruments and were able to determine that the source was an air conditioning unit on the rooftop. Consequentially, one of the air conditioning units was shut down and taken out of service. There were no reported injuries.
