HAWTHORNE, NJ - A 21 year old Hawthorne woman was arrested on Sunday at 4:15 a.m., according to the Hawthorne Police Department. When a Volkswagen Jetta was reported driving erratically on the George Washington Bridge, it was identified as being registered to Marianna Stas and the Hawthorne Police Department was notified. Officers reported the car being near Goffle Road and Goffle Hill Road and pulled over for "various motor vehicle violations" the police witnessed.
Police reported that they smelled an alcoholic beverage from her when they spoke to the driver, and she wanted to know why she had been pulled over, saying that she was "almost home." When asked to carry out field sobriety tests by the police, she failed and was placed under arrest, taken to police headquarters and charged with driving with an expired license, driving under the influence, traffic on marked lanes, and maintenance of lamps.
She was released with a court date pending.
