HAWTHORNE, NJ - The Police Department said that a 26 year old Paterson man was stabbed in the back by a man while walking along Goffle Road on Wednesday, February 26, at approximately 10:41 p.m.
The victim was allegedly walking near 34 Goffle Road when an unknown man approached him on foot. He was then followed and the man asked the victim for money. 
"The victim stated he was struck in the back, and when he turned around, realized he had been stabbed, as he saw the suspect holding a knife," Detective Sergeant Mattew Hoogmoed said.  "The victim ran to a nearby store and bystanders called for help."

The suspect allegedly fled towards the area of Paterson. The victim was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital with what were reported to be non-life threatening injuries. 
Police are investigating.  The NJ State Police Forensic Artist unit produced a sketch of the suspect, believed to be a Hispanic male, 20-25 years old, stocky build at 175-180 lbs., 5'8"-5'10", with black, curly, medium length hair. He was believed to have been wearing a gray jacket with black sleeves.
