HAWTHORNE, NJ - A few minutes after noon on Thursday, December 5, a resident at a home on Lafayette Avenue opened the door to discover a pickup truck had collided with a tree on the front yard.  The collision took place in front of the Hawthorne Theater when a driver allegedly slipped on the gas pedal, sending the vehicle over the sidewalk, tearing up the grass, and striking a tree.

Hawthorne Police were on the scene directing traffic and there were no reported injuries.

"I didn't even hear it at first, I just looked out the window and saw the truck up against the tree," the resident said, as he had been working in the back of the house.
