FRANKLIN LAKES, NJ - The Annual Franklin Lakes Scene Half Marathon and 5K was held Sunday and Hawthorne had strong representation in the run.  Part of the Wyckoff Family YMCA and Mayor's Wellness Campaign, the races took runners through scenic parts of Franklin Lakes, beginning and ending at the Recreation Center. 

Hawthorne was represented in the race by Hawthorne High School students Xavier and Alexsandra Clavijo and former Hawthorne Board of Education Member and current Soccer Association Board Member Diego Cruz.  Former Hawthorne High School Principal Daniel Lagrone from Hawthorne and his brother David from Paramus ran as well.

The overall winner was 38 year-old Kevin Mulholland who finished in 1 hour, 15 minutes, 30.52 seconds.

Xavier Clavijo finished at 1:39:34.68 took first place in the Male 14-19 category and 31st place overall.  Diego Cruz finished at 1:47:28.11 and took 5th place in the Male 55-59 category, 53rd overall.  David Lagrone finished at 1:56:17.01 at 106th place.  Past Principal Daniel Lagrone finished at 2:25:19.49 in 248th place.  Alexsandra Clajivo finished at 2:53:20.93, taking 2nd place in the Female 14-19 category and 300th overall.

Others from the readership area of TAPinto Hawthorne included Mark Synder of Prospect Park who finished 1:35:37.53 in 16th place overall and 2nd place in the Male 45-49 category; Sam Helsel of North Haledon who finished at 2:02:48.87 in 158th place overall; Haledon residents Edwin Duran who finished at 1:42:38.26, placed 5th in the Male 30-34 category and 40th overall; Edmundo Gonzalez who finished at 1:51:29.69 and 73rd overall; and Fiorita Di Palma who finished at 2:08:04.8, placed 4th in the Female 30-34 category, and 183rd overall.

There was also a "1 Mile Fun Run" held on the turf field of the Franklin Lakes Community Center which was not officially timed.
