The Blue Crabs extended the lead in the top of the ninth inning on a solo home run by Zach Cone (9) and a two-run shot by Luis Alen (4) for a 5-0 advantage.

“I feel we’ve had decent approaches at the plate, we just aren’t being as productive as we want to be,” said Patriots manager Brett Jodie. “Everybody knows their role and what they are supposed to do in the lineup. As a whole, everybody needs to pick it up a little bit to produce more.”

Daryl Thompson (6-6) picked up the win with seven scoreless inning pitched and six strikeouts. Efrain Nieves (1-3) suffered the loss, allowing two earned runs on six hits and six strikeouts in six innings pitched.

The 2017 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue at home on Sunday night with a 5:05 pm game against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. For tickets, visit www.somersetpatriots.com.
