Bridgewater Resident Faces Child Pornography Charge

SOMERVILLE, NJ  - A Bridgewater man has been arrested and charged with possession of child pornography.

Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey D. Soriano announced the arrest of Anthony Palkowitz Jr, 29, of East Main St., Bridgewater.

The investigation was conducted by detectives assigned to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Computer Crimes Task Force-Internet Crimes Against Children, according to Soriano.

The investigation revealed that on April 12, 2015, an email account used by Palkowitz was utilized to send emails containing image files depicting the sexual exploitation or abuse of a child, Soriano said. These emails were sent from an IP address registered to Palkowitz’ residence, according to the prosecutor.

On Oct. 20, 2015 police executed a search warrant at Palkowitz’s home. Personal computers and cell phones were seized, Soriano said.A follow-up investigation determined Palkowitz was in possession of child pornography.

On Jan. 6 Palkowitz was charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Possession of Child Pornography) 3rd Degree. He was arrested Thursday, Jan. 7 by Easton, Pa. police at his mother's house, according to Soriano. He is awaiting extradition to New Jersey.
