Chipotle will close all of its 2,000 stores on Feb. 8 for a company-wide meeting on food safety, CEO Steve Ells announced this week. The popular Mexican food chain will implement a revised food safety plan after the company's top executives met with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention about the health scare.
The popular quick service restaurant chain's stock price, which peaked at 757.77 on August 5, 2015, has plummeted in recent months following E. coli outbreaks on in nine states in October and November, and the outbreak of norovirus at a Massachusetts location more recently.
During a conference call, Chipotle founder and co-CEO Steve Ells told investors: "We're going to let all of our folks know about how this happened, and, in detail, all the steps that we're taking to ensure that it won't happen again."
Among the Chipotle locations in New Jersey that will close are on Feb. 8 are:

- 1260 Springfield Avenue, Suite in New Providence
- 542 Shoppes Blvd. in North Brunswick
- 6850 Hadley Road in South Plainfield
- 101 Route 22 in Springfield
- 235 Prospect Avenue in West Orange
- 117 E. Broad Street in Westfield
