Early Morning Traffic Stop Nets Heroin, Cocaine; 3 Arrested

SOMERVILLE, NJ - Three suspects were arrested after an early morning traffic stop in Warren that netted $3,200 in heroin and cocaine, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson.

Facing multiple drug charges are Christopher Bruce, 23, of Knoxville, Tenn., Desiree Daniels,19, of Charleston, W. Va. and Stephen Johnson, 47, of St. Albans, W. Va.

Warren Police Officer Angelo Barbieri pulled over the suspects' car at 1:28 a.m. on King George Road Sept. 4. Barbieri noticed drug paraphernalia in the vehicle and that all three suspects appeared extremely nervous.

A roadside investigation and subsequent consent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of approximately 2.5 ounces of suspected cocaine, 19 bundles of wax paper folds containing suspected heroin and three small plastic bags containing suspected marijuana.  

Bruce, Daniels, and Johnson were arrested and charged with 2nd degree, possession with the intent to distribute CDS (cocaine), 3rd degree, possession of CDS (cocaine and heroin), and possession of CDS (marijuana) a disorderly persons offense.  Additionally, Bruce and Daniels were charged with possession of hypodermic needles and possession of drug paraphernalia, both disorderly person offenses.  

Johnson and Daniels were lodged in the Somerset County Jail. Bruce was later released on his own recognizance.
