FRANKLIN, NJ - Emmy Award-winning director Josh Fox, the man behind the film "Gasland," has endorsed Democrat Peter Jacob, who is running against Republican incumbent Rep. Leonard Lance (R-7th) in the Seventh Congressional District.
Fox and Jacob hosted hosted an event at the Ukrainian Village focused on climate issues. They discussed the two natural gas transmission pipelines proposed to cross through the district, the PennEast and Pilgrim pipelines, as well as fracking, global warming, and the presidential race.
"Thankfully you have a person who understands climate change, understands fracking understands public health...who was one of the first people endorsed by Bernie Sanders and Our Revolution," Fox told Jacob's supporters. "You have someone to be enthusiastic about; please carry that enthusiasm all the way to November 8th and elect Peter Jacob."
"Receiving an endorsement from an activist who is as passionate as Josh Fox is truly an honor,"Jacob said. "The time to act on climate change and other environmental challenges we face was yesterday. We must ensure that we leave a world for our children and our grandchildren that will still be as generous to them as it has been to us.
"Our district has some of the leading solar energy producers in the state - the East Coast even - but we can and must do more,"Jacob continued. "We pay our taxes, but we don't see a return on that investment. New Jersey was once a leading example of energy production and innovation, and it is time we start building the next chapter of that legacy. We have a responsibility to put people over polluters and stop allowing special interests in the fossil fuel industries to put their profits over the safety of our planet."
