Former NAACP President Visits Jacob's Somerville Campaign Headquarters

SOMERVILLE, NJ - Ben Jealous, former NAACP president now teaching at Princeton University, visited Peter Jacob's 7th Congressional District campaign headquarters yesterday to endorse the Democratic candidate.

Jacob will debate incumbent Leonard Lance, (R-7th) Thursday morning in Clark.

Jealous has been a champion of civil rights issues throughout his career and continues to fight for social progress and equality as a community activisit. He was president and CEO of the NAACP from 2008 to 2012, and now serves as a visiting Professor and visiting Lecturer in Public and International Affairs at Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School and as a Fellow at the Center for American Progress.

Jealous participated in a live stream Jacob in the Somerville office. He explained why he believes that Peter is the kind of person needed in Washington.
“This is what we need more of...we have a 31-year-old social worker who has raised about $100,000 dollars on $26 donations,” Jealous said. “Peter is someone who fights for jobs, who fights for the downtrodden, who fights for the rest of us.”
