Franklin Shooting Victim was not Intended Target




SOMERVILLE, N.J. – An 18-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound in Franklin Township was not the intended target of the shooter, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson.

Police are seeking help from the public tracking down the shooter, according to Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives John W. Fodor and Franklin Township Chief of Police Lawrence Roberts.

The investigation in to the April 28 shooting in the Somerset section of Franklin Township is ongoing, according to Robertson who said the shooting was an isolated incident.

Franklin Police received a 911 call at 11:48 p.m. reporting gunshots gunshots in the area of Baier Avenue. Police found the shooting victim near Baier Avenue, suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound to her lower extremity. Officers provided medical aid to the victim, who was then transported to a local trauma center for emergency treatment.

The investigation thus far has revealed that this was an isolated incident and the victim was not the intended target.
