BRIDGEWATER, NJ-   The Somerset Patriots (19-19, 61-47) defeated the Long Island Ducks (23-16, 59-50) 7-5 in the night game of a day-night double header at TD Bank Ballpark on Wednesday.

Tied at 5-5 in the bottom of the eighth inning, Carlos Guzman smacked a go-ahead two-run home run (5) to give the Patriots a 7-5 win.

“I wanted to get a ball that I could drive,” said Guzman. “He was probably thinking that I was looking off-speed and came in with the pitch I was looking for, a fastball, and I didn’t try to do too much. I just tried to get the barrel to the ball and it went.”
