Help a Neighbor: Rebuilding Lives at 245 Kingsberry Drive

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, NJ - The fire at Kingsberry Acres displaced a family of three Tuesday morning, and the help of the community is needed. 

"I woke up to a loud boom that sounded like it came from my garage," Jaquita Burton said. "When I opened my garage door to check it out dark smoke quickly filled my house. I am very thankful I woke up when I did because my daughter's room is right over the garage floor it eventually collapsed into the garage."  

Burton is a single mother of two girls, Janai is 18 years old and Tiara is 12 years old. Janai is a freshman in college, and Tiara is an eighth grader.

"We are all so thankful to have survived the fire and are very grateful for the help we received from the firemen, police and our wonderful neighbors," Burton said. "I just can't believe will have to start from scratch, because it is something I never thought I would have to do."

Burton and her daughters are trying to raise $10,000 to help replace their items lost in the fire;. Donaions can be made online on their gofundme page

They are also accepting clothes, shoes, toiletries, and any other everyday items, which can be sent to 771 Somerset St., Somerset NJ 08873.
