HILLSBOROUGH, NJ - A blood drive will be hosted by Hillsborough Reformed Church at Millstone on Sunday, June 25 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. The church is located at 1 Amwell Road.
The blood drive is in memory of Andrew Russoniello, a 13-year-old who lost his life in a tragic bike accident last summer. His family, including father, Christopher; mother, Emily; and siblings, Dari and Kit, other relatives; friends; and fellow church members will gather to honor him by donating blood at the church through the Red Cross.
All are welcome to join in the movement known as #BeLikeAndrew, in which random acts of kindness are encouraged. A Facebook page, Be Like Andrew, is also online.
“Andrew lived his life in service of others,” said his father. “After his death, the local theater community in which he was active, held a tribute to him. His classmates told stories of his kindness and bravery: how he could not stand to see anyone with a frown, and how he would stop with a kind word or ‘cheesy’ joke to bring a smile back to their face. He helped those in need with a shoulder and two strong arms.”
“Andrew may not be remembered by the whole world, but he had a gift for everyday kindness and he will be remembered by everyone who knew him,” Russoniello added.
Walk-ins are welcome at the blood drive, but appointments are preferred for those donating to make sure the appropriate supplies and personnel are available.
