HILLSBOROUGH, NJ - Norz Hill Farm will host the township's annual Halloween Party on Thursday, Oct. 24th from 3:30-5:30 p.m., with hayrides, pumpkin picking and a walk through a haunted hay bale maze.

Pre-registration is required and can be completed online at hillsborough-nj.org. Call (908) 369-4313 for further information. The participation fee is $8 per child. In addition to the planned activities, all children will receive a goodie bag.

The township's 5th annual Howl-O-Ween Dog Parade and Costume Contest will be at the dog park at Ann Van Middlesworth Park on Pleasant View Road, Saturday, Oct. 26th. Registration begins at 8:30 am and the Howl Parade begins at 9 a.m., complete with a costume contest. Prizes will be awarded.

Local animal friendly vendors will be at the event including Belle Mead Animal Hospital, Dog Day’s Day Care, Pioneer Pet Care Kennel and Cream Puff Farm’s Kennel.

Police Chief Michael McMahon also reminds adults and young trick-or-treaters to be mindful of safety precautions during the Halloween season:

- Wear light colored clothing that’s short enough to prevent tripping and add reflective tape to the sides, front and back of the costume;
- Make sure children can see well through face masks or cosmetics;
Adults should accompany young children;
Go out in daylight and carry a flashlight after nightfall;
Stay within family neighborhoods and/or visit homes that you know;
Watch for traffic;
Only give and accept wrapped or packaged candy;
Examine all candy before allowing children to eat it;
Keep control of pets as they may react unexpectedly to children in costumes;

Remember also to adhere to Township Halloween Curfew regulations:

-  No person under the age of 18 years shall be permitted on any public place, public street or public property in the Township of Hillsborough between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., prevailing time, of each and every day during the period from Oct. 28 to Nov. 1, inclusive, of each year, unless such person is in attendance at a program or function sponsored by the municipality, a church or school.

This section shall not apply to persons under the age of 18 years while they are returning home from a place of employment, school, fraternal or religious meeting or going to and from a doctor’s or dentist’s office, where treatment has been rendered, or is to be rendered, or to persons under the age of 18 years who are accompanied by a parent or guardian over the age of 21 years.
