NEWARK, NJ - A Hillsborough resident was arrested and charged by Newark police for burglarizing a pharmacy early Sunday morning.

David Cardinale faces charges of burglary and possession of burglary tools, according to Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose.

Police responded to a Broad Street pharmacy's burglar alarm shortly shortly after 2 a.m.  After reviewing the pharmacy’s surveillance video, officers provided other patrol units with the suspect’s description.

He was located within minutes and taken into custody several blocks from the pharmacy. Police also recovered items taken during the burglary, which included cigarettes and body wash, according to a police spokesman.

He is being lodged in the Essex County Jail.
