Hillsborough: School District, Township Committee Partner on Scholarship Competition

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ - The Township Committee and school district have teamed up to work with students to qualify for a statewide scholarship competition.

Mayor Carl Suraci made the announcement at this week's Committee meeting.

The New Jersey League of Municipalities is offering three $1,000 scholarship statewide through the Louis Bay II, Future Municipal Leaders Scholarship Competition.

“The Township is once again teaming up with the Hillsborough School District so Hillsborough students can participate in this scholarship competition,” Suraci said.

The purpose of this scholarship program is to advance the virtues of elected and volunteer positions in municipal government while raising awareness of municipal government in general.

"We are delighted to partner with the Township through the New Jersey League of Municipalities to participate in this scholarship competition opportunity for our students," said Dr. Jorden Schiff, superintendent of Hillsborough Township Schools.

The deadline for applications is March 10, 2017. Completed applications need to be sent to Suraci at the township municipal building.

Information can be found on the Naviance Program utilized by the School District. In addition, information is available at the high school's Guidance Office.
