Hillsborough Workshop Examines Impact of Marijuana & Opiates


HILLSBOROUGH, NJ – A workshop for parents and professionals that will provide an overview of the impact opiates and marijuana have on adolescent behavior will be held June 20 from 6-8 p.m. at the Hillsborough Municipal Building, 379 South Branch Road.

Participants will learn how these substances are raising the risk potential for every family.  

Somerset County Freeholder Brian D. Levine invites adults age 18 and over to learn what every parent and professional is up against at this free workshop.

Speaker John Kriger, of Kriger Consulting, will provide an informative overview of current trends and answer the following questions:

  1.  Why is Fentanyl so dangerous?
  2.  Are those who use these products at greater risk, than in the past; and if so why?
  3.  What are Budder, Shatter, Dab, Flakka and the Deep Web? 
  4.  How are people becoming addicted to opiates and what are the risks? 
  5.  What is Narcan and can it actually protect someone from an overdose?

This program is sponsored by the Somerset County Board of Chosen Freeholders, the county Department of Human Services, the Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse and the Safe Communities Coalition of Hunterdon and Somerset.
