Hillsborough's "Safe and Sound" Honored by Somerset County Business Partnership

BRIDGEWATER, NJ – The year's largest gathering of the Somerset County business community will honor a Hillsborough organization at the 2016 annual Meeting and Celebration of Success hosted by the Somerset County Business Partnership on Monday, Dec. 12th at the Palace at Somerset Park, 333 Davidson Ave. in Somerset.

The day’s activities will begin with a networking reception at 11:30 A.M. followed by the luncheon at 12:15 P.M.

The 2016 Economic Vitality recipients are Safe+Sound Somerset (formerly the Resource Center of Somerset) of Hillsborough and JM Sorge Environmental Consulting of Somerville.

Over 500 guests are expected from the public and private sectors. The luncheon will include a presentation of the economic and sustainability goals and objectives set for Somerset County businesses in 2017 and will recognize the 2016 Economic Vitality Award recipients.

“The Annual Meeting is the time when the Somerset County business community gathers to recognize the companies that have added to our economic vitality, and announce our top strategic objectives for the coming year. Somerset County has once again solidified its position as the prime location for companies looking to access a talented workforce, a central location, and an outstanding quality of life," said Mike Kerwin, president/CEO of the Business Partnership. " We will celebrate these accomplishments at our Annual Meeting.”

Registration is $90 for Business Partnership members and $130 for non-members if purchased by Tuesday, December 6, 2016 and $115 for members and $145 for non-members thereafter. Safe+Sound Somerset is the county’s lead agency and only non-profit to provide preventative outreach along with services for adult survivors of domestic abuse and their children. Emergency shelter, trauma focused therapy, legal advocacy and transitional housing programs incorporate a strong emphasis on empowerment; leading to sustainable futures, free of abuse.


JM Sorge

JM Sorge, Inc. (JMS) is a Somerset-County-based environmental consulting services firm with a team of NJ Licensed Site Remediation Professionals, scientists, geologists, hydrogeologists, engineers, and experienced regulatory and policy experts.

JMS services cover a wide variety of environmental needs, from real estate due diligence, environmental compliance and site remediation to brownfield redevelopment and more. The goal of JMS is to provide the high level of service and expertise necessary to create value for every client.

The Somerset County Business Partnership (SCBP) serves as Somerset County’s regional Chamber of Commerce. The Business Partnership serves as the platform to gain critical information, brand a business, develop leadership skills and learn how specific business strategies can improve profitability.

Somerset County Flags at Half-Staff to Honor Grace Gurisic, First Woman Freeholder

SOMERVILLE, NJ – Somerset County will fly its flags at half-staff July 12 in memory of Grace A. Gurisic, who served as the county’s first woman freeholder more than half a century ago.
